HOSPITAL BUILDING COMPLEX: CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

1932-1975

State index: 1.6.94.5

Architects: Alexander Tamanyan, Mark Grigoryan

The building is located between Abovyan and Heratsi streets, on the northern and northeastern side of the hospital complex, at 60 Abovyan Street.

Architects Alexander Tamanyan and Mark Grigoryan designed the building in 1932. The construction took place in phases. They completed the first part in 1939 and finished the entire construction in 1975. The building underwent changes during construction. In 1987, they expanded the building towards the interior of the plot from the Abovyan Street side.

The hospital has a capacity of 150 beds.

It is a two-story building, but due to the slope of the terrain, it appears as three stories from Heratsi Street. The central volume (33 m long, 16 m wide), which houses administrative rooms, connects in an arc shape to the side wings (where the clinical departments are located). The wing on Heratsi Street is allocated to the children's polyclinic.

The building is made of stone, using rough-hewn basalt, Artik tuff, and reinforced concrete as construction materials.

The arc-shaped volume of the structure, placed along the outline of Abovyan Park, plays a significant role in organizing the end of Abovyan Street.

The architects designed the building in the classical architectural style.
