Alexander Shirvanzade was an Armenian playwright and novelist.
The work of Alexander Shirvanzade is one of the highest achievements of Armenian realistic literature, it marked the beginning of a new period in the history of Armenian fiction, especially psychological prose and dramaturgy.
The role of Shirvanzade in the history of Armenian dramaturgy and theater (20th century) is unique. His works have been staged in the Armenian theater, films were made based on his works "Namus" (1925), " Evil Spirit" (1927), " “For the Sake of Honor” (1956), "Morgan Khnamy" ("Morgan's Father in Law") (1970) "Chaos" (1973).
The bust of Alexander Shirvanzade is located in front of School No. 21 named after Alexander Shirvanzade in the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan. The statue was erected in 1958.
