MONUMENT TO ALEXANDER MANTASHOV

The monument to the famous Tbilisi-Armenian philanthropist, oil industrialist, major shareholder of the Tbilisi Commercial Bank, founder of the Mantashov Commercial Joint-Stock House and the Mantashov Commercial School, lifetime honorary president of the Caucasian Armenian Benevolent Society, patron of art and science, knight of the Order of the Legion of Honor of France (awarded for financing the construction of the Armenian St. John the Baptist Church in Paris) Alexander Hovhannes Mantashov (Mantashov, 1842-1911) is installed on Abovyan Street, next to the St. Catholic and St. Anna churches.


The authors are the sculptor, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Arzumanyan and the Honored Architect of the Republic of Armenia Levon Ghalumyan, the patron is Hovik Hovakimyan.

The solemn opening took place on April 18, 2012. Alexander and Mikael Mantashyan, the grandson and great-grandson of Al. Mantashov, were present at the opening.


The monument is cast in bronze, it has a height of 3 m. The dimensions of the circular pedestal are: height - 0.47 m, diameter - 2.30 m.
