State index: 1.12.10.5
The entrance to Victory Park in the form of an arch
of triumph is the last structure of the memorial complex, built into the former
western wall. It is located on Azatutyan Avenue. The entrance was built
according to the design of Rafael Israelyan, 10 years after his death, in 1983.
Rafael Israelyan made the sketches, and his son, architect Areg Israelyan,
completed the design and supervised the construction.
The
gables with the rectangular base of the triumphal arch are connected by a
quadruple arches and a fronton. The forms of national architecture and
decorative art motives were used in the composition.
The
eastern (garden side) and western (front, avenue) façades of the columns are
decorated with triangular niches with fanlike ends. On the front side of the
fronton are mermaids carved in the middle of them - a sword and sun, below - a
lion and a dragon, herbal ornaments. On the eastern façade there are grape
sculptures, eagle sculptures, hammer and sickle, ornament belts decorated with
herbal motives. On the right upper side of this facade are the initials of the
architect's name and surname.
Built
of brown tuff, the stones are diagonal. It stands out with its slenderness and
nobleness.
