MONUMENT TO POGHOS NUBAR PASHA

2001

Sculptor: Tigran Arzumanyan

Thanks to Poghos Nubar Pasha (Poghos Nubar Nubaryan, 1851-1930), a famous Armenian businessman and philanthropist, one of the founders and first president of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, and one of the leaders of the Armenian national movement, the Nubarashen residential district was built (founded in 1930, designed by architect Alexander Tamanyan), where Armenians repatriated from Greece, France, Lebanon, Syria and Bulgaria settled.

The bronze bust is placed on a high and polished granite pedestal. The features of Poghos Nubar Pasha are realistic. The front facade of the pedestal is inscribed in bronze letters: POGHOS NUBAR NUBARYAN.
