MONUMENT TO POGHOS NUBAR PASHA

Thanks to Poghos Nubar Pasha (Poghos
Nubar Nubaryan, 1851-1930), a famous Armenian businessman and philanthropist,
one of the founders and first president of the Armenian General Benevolent
Union, and one of the leaders of the Armenian national movement, the Nubarashen
residential district was built (founded in 1930, designed by architect
Alexander Tamanyan), where Armenians repatriated from Greece, France, Lebanon,
Syria and Bulgaria settled.
The bronze bust is placed on a high and
polished granite pedestal. The features of Poghos Nubar Pasha are realistic.
The front facade of the pedestal is inscribed in bronze letters: POGHOS NUBAR
NUBARYAN.
