MONUMENT TO GENERAL ANDRANIK

The basalt statue of
the Armenian national liberation movement figure, fidayapet, and military
leader Andranik (Andranik Ozanyan) is located in the Vahan Zatikyan Park of the
Malatia-Sebastia administrative district, between Svachyan and Raffi streets. The
ceremonial opening took place on February 25, 1999, on the birthday of General Andranik.
A plaster copy of the statue was presented at the opening, which was replaced
with a basalt version in the fall of the same year. Andranik is depicted
sitting slightly tilted, with his hands resting on his knees. The height of the
statue is 7 meters.
